Remedial massage and deep tissue massage pays more attention to distressed muscles. This can happen in many parts of the body for many reasons. At our Sydney massage clinic, we see a lot of people who may work on computers in offices who are cramped over their work stations for long hours.
They may get tension across the shoulders, in the neck and in the upper back. This constant use of computers leads to those muscles aching because they have been maintained in unnatural positions for long periods of time.
We see musicians who also need to release their muscles after playing their instruments for long periods. Massage helps release that pain and aching.
Other people may have aches and pains in different parts of their bodies because they might have one leg shorter than the other, their hip pops out, they may have frozen shoulder, slept in an awkward position, done a lot of travelling or have chronic conditions such as sore lower backs. Remedial massage and deep tissue massage helps relieve that muscular tension to let the blood back into the muscles to re-energise them and heal that painful that muscular area.
Many people with medical conditions like thyroid difficulties, depression, muscular degeneration and cancer also benefit therapeutically from remedial massage to relieve pain in their muscles, particularly people who may suffer from restricted movement disorders.
We get into the muscles firmly but gently. In releasing the tension in these muscles it is important not to re-traumatise them by going too deep. So it is import to get the depth and tension of massage just right. We talk to our clients as we massage just to check that the tension is right for them. Added to all the medical benefits, remedial massage and deep tissue massage helps people feel great relief, relaxation of peace.
All remedial massage and deep tissue massage are carried out at our massage clinic in Sydney by Dr Tracie O’Keefe, DCH, BHSc, ND, who has more than 30 years’ experience as a massage therapist.
