Cellulite is pitted globules of stored fat under the skin. As we get into adulthood cellulite increases, particularly in women, around the thighs, buttocks and tummy areas. In some cases no matter how much exercise you do you can still not get rid of the cellulite, needing extra help.
A cellulite reduction massage lasts one hour, initially working on areas of the body to relax them and stimulate good blood flow. Regular massage with anti-cellulite massage oils helps with cellulite reduction. Sometimes we use a combination of herbs and oils applied to the skin surface that are infused through the skin to begin to help to break down excessive cellulite with a medical massage machine.
For other people with excessive cellulite we use the special g5 massage machine that vibrates the cellulite areas for most of the session, followed by a lymphatic drainage massage. The massage machine vibrates at such a high speed that it breaks down the globules and fat. What tends to happen with cellulite is that there is a globulisation of fat tissue and it needs to be broken down and redistributed into a smooth pattern so that the skin has a more healthy and youthful look.
Some people are unable to have cellulite reduction with laser, heat treatments or chemical fat disintegration. In these cases mechanical cellulite breakdown in the form of cellulite reduction massage is an acceptable option.
At our Sydney massage clinic we also work with people after they have had surgical liposuction who have post surgery fat globulisation (lumps) that results in pitting. It is important to break up those globules so your surgery can give you maximum results.
Since our clinic director is also a naturopath, medical herbalist and medical nutritionist we put clients onto a special dietary program, prescribe herbs and suggest lifestyle changes and exercises changes to for cellulite reduction.
All cellulite reduction treatments are carried out at our massage clinic in Sydney by Dr Tracie O’Keefe, DCH, BHSc, ND, who has more than 30 years’ experience as a massage therapist as well as being an experienced natural medicine practitioner.
